Incorporated in 1986, Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited (IRFC) is a financing arm of the Indian railways. IRFC is a Schedule ‘A’ Public Sector Enterprise overseen by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. 

The company also holds the status of being registered as a Systemically Important Non-Deposit Taking Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC-ND-SI) and an Infrastructure Finance Company (NBFC-IFC) with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Its registered office is based in New Delhi, India.

Business Segment

The company operation includes:

  • Primary Segment: offers the Leasing and Finance segment 
  • Services Offered: Leasing rolling stock assets and railway infrastructure assets, as well as extending loans to other entities under the Ministry of Railways

Geographical Presence

It procures funds from diverse sources, including term loans and bonds from domestic and international markets. The company offers loans to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and IRCON.
