Incorporated in 2000, HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited is an Indian life insurance company headquartered in Mumbai. It is a joint venture between the Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) and Standard Life Aberdeen. 

Business Segment

It offers products tailored for the protection, savings, and retirement needs of Indian consumers. Its offerings can be categorised into three segments.

  • Participating Life: including individual and group policies with bonuses, featuring endowment plans, pension plans, and savings cum protection plans
  • Non-Participating Life: covers individual and group policies without participation in surplus generation. It offers term life, credit life, fund-based pension, and group variable plans
  • Unit-Linked: comprises investment cum protection plans like Unit Linked Life and fund-based Pension plans for both individuals and groups
  • Partnerships: include traditional collaborators such as NBFCs, Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs), and Small Finance Banks (SFBs), as well as new-ecosystem partners like startups and fintechs.

Geographical Presence

The company has a countrywide presence with around 500 branches and numerous additional distribution touchpoints established through various new partnerships and tie-ups.
