Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) is a leading natural gas company in India. The company was incorporated in 1984 as a PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. It is headquartered in New Delhi, India.

Business Segment

The company is involved in the entire value chain of natural gas, from transmission to processing to marketing.

  • Business Operations: Transmission Services, Natural Gas Marketing, Petrochemicals, LPG and Liquid Hydrocarbons, and Other activities
  • Customer Base: includes power plants, fertiliser plants, city gas distribution companies (CGDs), and industrial users. The company also supplies natural gas to domestic and commercial consumers through CGDs
  • New Developments: to expand its presence in the renewable energy sector, including solar, wind, and biofuel initiatives

The company owns and operates a network of over 15,000 km of natural gas pipelines across India. The company also has several LNG terminals and processing facilities.
