Incorporated in 1999, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited is a Mini Ratna (Category-I). IRCTC is a wholly owned entity of the Government of India, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Railways.  

IRCTC serves as a one-stop solution for passengers all over India. It’s the only entity authorised by the Indian government for online train tickets, catering on trains, and bottled water at railway stations and on trains in India. 

Business Segment

Its business segments include:

  • Catering & Hospitality Segment: provides catering in three ways: mobile, e-catering, and static
  • Static Catering: serves food at stations through food plazas, fast-food units, refreshment rooms, Jan Aahar outlets, and more
  • e-Catering: provides food orders through WhatsApp  
  • Mobile Catering: offers food services to onboarded passengers through mini pantries, pantry cars, and train side vending
  • Internet Ticketing Segment: offers online ticket booking systems 
  • Rail Nee Segment: is the company’s exclusive branded bottled drinking water for rail travellers 
  • Rail Tour Packages Segment: offers confirmed berths to passengers and all-inclusive services, like road transportation, accommodation, sightseeing and accidental insurance, among others
