- The Indian government appointed Tuhin Kanta Pandey as SEBI’s new chairman for three years. He replaces Madhabi Puri Buch and becomes the 11th SEBI chief. He played a key role in shaping India’s financial policies as finance secretary.
- The All-India House Price Index (HPI) rose 3.1% in Q3 2024-25, slowing from 4.3% in the previous quarter and 3.8% a year ago, as per RBI data. The index, based on transaction data from 10 major cities, reflects nationwide housing market trends.
- The International Sugar Organization (ISO) increased its global sugar deficit forecast for 2024-25 to 4.88 million metric tonnes, up from 2.51 million, due to lower-than-expected production in India, as per its latest quarterly update on the sugar market.
- India is set for one of the warmest March months on record, with above-average temperatures potentially impacting wheat yields. The India Meteorological Department will release its March temperature forecast on Friday.
- India has extended the deadline for bidding for offshore mineral blocks by one month. Last year in November, India launched the auction of 13 offshore mineral blocks worth more than 1,50,000 crore.
Market Highlights
Transrail Lighting has secured new orders worth ₹2752 Crore, primarily from the Transmission and Distribution business. With this, the company’s Year-to-Date (YTD) order inflows have crossed Rs 7,400 Crore further strengthening its position in the industry.
PSP Projects has received a ₹1764.12 crore order for a wide range of infrastructure and construction projects across Ahmedabad, primarily within the institutional and residential categories.
TP Solar Ltd., the solar manufacturing arm of Tata Power Co., has secured a contract worth approximately Rs 632 crore from Solar Energy Corp. for the supply of 292.5 MWp domestic content requirement solar modules.
Solar Industries India Limited and its subsidiary have received export orders worth ₹2150 crores for the Supply of Defence Products, to be delivered over 6 years.
