Is a guardian required for all individuals with disabilities to open a demat or trading account?

Adults (18 and older) who are mentally competent and legally eligible to enter into contracts can open a or trading account on their own. If a guardian is needed as per SEBI guidelines, we will need a Guardianship Certificate from the Local Level Committee, in line with the Mental Health Care Act, 2017, and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities Act, 1999. Both the guardian and the individual with disabilities must meet all KYC requirements.
