How do I understand a contract note?

The details in a contract note can be used to verify trades at the exchange. The contract note gives you the details for the trades as follows:

  • Order Number: It shows the exchange order number
  • Order Time: It shows the timestamp of when the order was placed
  • Trade Number:  It shows the trade number on the exchange
  • Trade Time: It shows the timestamp of when the order was successfully executed at the exchange
  • Security or Contract Description: It shows the stock or instrument for which the order was placed
  • Buy/Sell: It mentions the transaction type
  • Gross Rate or Trade Price per Unit (₹): It shows the price at which the order got executed
  • The Net Rate per Unit (₹): It is similar to the gross rate per unit.
  • Net Total (Before Levies): It shows the total amount due to the client or from the client before brokerage and taxes
